Today was our first physical step towards starting our dream of an unconventional way of living as we visited South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs to get our passports in order. Anika has had a passport before but is completely unrecognizable in the photo, even to us! It might be that the photo was taken at 5 months old, shortly after her 3rd brain operation, on our way to Europe for a RV holiday!
The kids handled the process well and Reuben even had his photo taken within 2 minutes. Perfectly framed and focussed! We suspect the photobooth operator secretly adjusted the shutterspeed to compensate for his level of activity….
The fact that the very helpful staff came to assist us while we were still queing, definitely helped make the process more bearable.
Even though everything went reletavily smoothly the boredom eventually set in.
All the staff were very helpful but there were very few smiles around. Can’t say we blame them!
If all goes to plan we all should have valid passports with recognizable photos by the end of July.
We’ll continue to share our planning process and would love for you to join our mailing list so we can keep you up to date. Please also join us on Social Media and share to all your friends.
